Voice Recognition

Voice recognition has come far, but it is still not perfect.

I was on my way to Toronto International Airport to pick up a friend.  I wanted to text her to let her know that I was at an intersection near the airport.  I said to my phone, “I’m at Martin Grove and Eglinton.”  My phone’s voice recognition printed, “Add Martin Grover nagging 10.”

Here are some other examples:

“Is this going to take long?”
“Just going to take them home.”

*

“I have to find a bathroom.”
“I asked to find a bathrobe.”

*

“It’s hot out here.”
“You taught oh dear.”

*

“I’m leaving now from Christie and Bloor.”
“I’m leaving now from Christine Bluetooth.”

*

“I knocked, but no answer.”
“I’m not but no answer.”

*

“When will it all end?”
“When will it all went.”

*

“Just leaving the theatre now.”
“Just leaving the cedar now.”

*

“The store is closed.”
“Do stars close.”

*

“Call later.”
“Call trader.”

*

“The meeting should last 20 minutes.  I’ll be free after that.”
“Set meeting should last 20 minutes.  Of you free after that.”

*

“It has a bad reputation for stale coffee.”
“He has had a bad reputation for still coughing.”

*

“The elevator is broken.  You have to take the stairs.”
“The yellow meter is broken.  You have to take the stairs.”

*

“That’s enough for now.”
“Said enough for now.”
