It’s not my fault. I want to write, but the enchanting Agents of Procrastination seduce me.
I have Netflix. My daughter added me to Prime and Crave TV. My son-in-law added me to Plex. My nephew added me to Disney Plus. The Toronto Public Library provides Hoopla and Kanopy.
Netflix, Prime, Crave TV, Plex, Disney Plus, Hoopla, and Kanopy are Agents of Procrastination. They invade my head when I start to THINK about writing. They use their charms to distract me from the task at hand. And soon, a day or evening passes with my notebook still blank and my mind numb from watching movies.
These Agents of Procrastination are part of BAG – Beings Against Gary. BAG consists of natural and supernatural beings, concrete and abstract concepts, aliens, a rocket scientist, and a partridge in a pear tree. BAG’s mission is to sabotage all my creative endeavors. Why? Who knows?
I used to be able to fight off BAG and complete my creative work. But since BAG recruited the Agents of Procrastination, I am losing the battles. So many great ideas, ripe for the picking, rot in my head while movies dazzle my eyes and mesmerize my mind. Soon I will be a zombie. Oh well, at least I will not have to think.
