It Is All About Fear

“The Scream” by Edvard Munch, 1893

Fear.  It is an excellent way to get people to obey without using force.  The Authorities have known this for years.

Fear has turned us into a nation of germaphobes.  God help us if someone sneezes or coughs somewhere.  HE OR SHE COULD BE SPREADING GERMS THAT WILL KILL US!

KILLER GERMS ARE IN THE AIR!
KILLER GERMS ARE IN PEOPLE!
KILLER GERMS ARE ON
EVERYTHING!
KILLER GERMS! KILLER GERMS!

“Oh no!  Make me safe.  Make me safe.”

“Okay.  Do everything we say.  Obey.  Obey.”

“I will.  I will.”

“Wear 75 masks.  Keep 30 meters (100 feet) away from other people.  Wash your hands all the time.  And, take this vaccine.”

“Vaccine?”

“Yes, vaccine.  It’s safe, but it will not stop you from getting or spreading the virus.  Our vaccine is the only way we are going stop the virus from spreading.”

At what point are we no longer terrified should someone sneeze or cough?  At what point are we not afraid of getting sick?   At what point does the fear end?

And The Authorities answer, “NEVER!”
