The other day I tried talking gibberish to an eight-year-old boy. He refused to respond.
“Gibberish is not a real language,” he said. “I am not going to be silly and speak gibberish.”
What? This response coming from a child? Where was his imagination? Where was his sense of play? Lost? How tragic!
This boy lives with his mother and grandmother. Both mother and grandmother take life seriously. At some point, they lost their imaginations and sense of play. How tragic!
